Real soap makes its own moisturizer. Most bars have it taken out. Ours keeps it in.
When olive oil becomes soap it produces glycerin, the same thing you find on the label of a bottle of lotion. In a real bar the glycerin stays where it was made, so the bar washes and softens at the same time.
Industrial soap makers separate the glycerin out, because it sells better on its own, and what is left is a harder, drier bar. Many of the cheap bars on the shelf are not soap at all but synthetic detergent pressed into a bar shape: lab-made sulfates, artificial fragrance, dyes and preservatives.
Ours is made the old way and left whole. Olive oil, water, and a handful of natural ingredients. Nothing taken out to be sold back to you.

In the mountains and valleys of Lebanon, olive oil soap was never a trend. It was just soap. Cooked in kettles or pressed cold by the season, cut by hand, aged on wooden racks, and used on everything from a baby's skin to a grandfather's beard. We went back to the families who never stopped making it properly and asked them to make it for you.
Cold pressed, never boiled
Olive oil, water, and a few things you would find in a kitchen, not a lab. Brought together cold and poured the same day, so everything the oil carried stays in the bar.
Cut by hand, then stamped
The soap is left to firm, cut into bars by hand, and stamped one at a time with the seal. No two are quite the same. That is the point.
Aged 8 to 12 weeks
Stacked on wooden racks and left alone. The bar loses water, hardens, and keeps its natural glycerin and its extra olive oil.
Some batches are cold pressed, some are cooked in the kettle. It depends on the batch and the season. Every batch is labelled with its method and its date, and this page always shows the batch we are selling now. Batch 001 is cold pressed.
Why a bar should be ugly. A perfect bar is a factory bar. Ours are never quite the same twice, and that is how you know.
A machine presses a bar into the same shape a million times, then polishes it so it shines under shop lights. It is smooth because there is nothing in it that could be rough: no pour, no cure, no hand.
Ours is cut by hand and stamped one at a time. The edge carries the cut, the face carries the seal a little deeper on one bar than the next, and the weeks on the rack leave their marks. Two bars from the same batch are cousins, not twins.
The first wash softens the edge. After that it fits your hand better than anything a mould could make. The ugliness is the proof.

What is Baraké?
Baraké is traditional olive oil soap from the mountains and valleys of Lebanon, sold online in the United States. One bar, batch 001, made from olive oil, water and a handful of natural ingredients, hand-cut, stamped and aged for weeks before it ships. A bar is $20. Baraké is Lebanese for blessing, said bah rah KAY.
Is it really all natural?
Yes. Olive oil, water and a handful of natural ingredients. No sulfates, no synthetic fragrance, no dyes, no preservatives. If we ever scent a bar, it is with natural essential oils only; if we ever color one, it is with clays and plants only.
Which bar should I choose?
Batch 001 is the original bar, origin no. 1, Lebanon. The choice today is the pack size: a single bar, a 3 pack or a 6 pack of the same bar. The musk bar is next: choose it in the buy section, leave your email, and we make a batch when enough people ask. New origins and new batches come one at a time and are announced by email.

How do I make a bar last?
Let it dry between uses. Keep it on a dish that drains, out of the stream of the shower. A bar that dries well lasts weeks longer than one left in a puddle.

Yes. Soap cleans itself every time you use it. Keep it on a dish that drains and it stays clean and lasts longer.

Because it is soap, not detergent. It is made slowly, in small batches, from olive oil, and aged for weeks. It also lasts a long time when you let it dry between uses.
What is the founders' price?
Founders are the buyers of the first 500 bars of batch 001. They pay 25% below the January 2027 price while those bars last: $15 a bar, $37.50 for the 3 pack, $75 for the 6 pack; an order that crosses the line is honoured in full. The discount is applied at checkout and shows on your receipt. After those bars, and for every bar once the batch ships in January 2027, the price is $20 a bar, $50 the 3 pack and $100 the 6 pack.
How does preorder work?
You order and pay today, like any order. Batch 001 ships in January 2027, the date shown at checkout and in your confirmation. If that date moves, we tell you and offer a full refund.
What does shipping cost, and where do you ship?
Ships within the United States. $5 shipping on a single bar, free on the 3 and 6 packs. Sales tax is added at checkout. Preorders ship in January 2027. In-stock orders leave within two business days and arrive in three to seven.
Can I cancel a preorder?
Yes. Cancel for a full refund any time before your bars ship, by replying to your confirmation email, or writing to staff@barakesoap.com from the address you ordered with.
Returns?
If a bar arrives damaged or you are unhappy with it, write to us within 14 days of delivery and we will make it right.
